A SPuttering launch

Books & Shovels launched @ the 2014 N.Y.C. Poetry Festival, & made way thru New York towards Springfield IL for our This Is Poetry feature.  From Springfield, we headed West thru Kansas City MO and passed into Lawrence KS where, the most reliable vehicle we've had to date, was completely totaled. The front end crumpled like an accordion. Leaking a cocktail of fluids, we pulled into a Walmart lot to regroup. We kicked it there for a couple days, scraping together funds & a plan. The kindness of strangers shined thru an oddball mechanic who traded us a 1989 Ford E150 for the scrapped Volvo & the last of our cash, well below its value.

Rejuvenated, we hit the road to Denver CO, where lived about for a month before shooting East towards New Hampshire.
