"Fuck Art, Let's Dance "  

Fuck Art, Let's Dance publishes moons that don't need the sun to be bright.  Each issue incorporates poetry + art + flash fiction + a featured artist & featured writer + submission calls of other rad publishers + reviews + playlists + anything beautiful / powerful / passionate we discover thru the process putting the issue together.

F.A.L.D. kicked off shakey in 2014 as a monthly publication. After 2015's renovations, we've transitioned to releasing issues bi-annually, giving gives us more time to work with accepted artists & writers + better display & promote their work.

"HOW IS F.A.L.D. PUBLISHED?"

F.A.L.D. is published as an embedded ezine to make archiving + sharing via social media easier.  While print feels amazing against fingertips, we find this method to be best for circulating your work effectively, & allows us to include music + digital art + videos.

Submission Guidelines

By submitting, you are stating you own the rights to the submitted work.  If you're submitting in multiple categories, please limit yourself to two. We do not accept previously published work.  Simultaneous submissions are fine with us--just please notify us if your work is accepted elsewhere. 

No matter the category you are submitting to, answer the following question (4 sentences max) in the body of your submission email :

Please send a bio no longer than 3 sentences in the body of your email.  If you don't want a bio included, specify in the submission email.  Send any links to personal blogs / projects / sites you'd like included.

Also, in the body of your email, please include what pronouns you prefer. Thank you <3

POETRY

We accept videos, macros, text, audio, all forms of media for poetry submissions.  All text-based submissions should be attached as a doc / docx / txt / rtf file.

~For traditional text-based poems, please send no more than 5.
~For macros and image based poems, please send no more than 5.
~For audio poems, submit a SoundCloud link.  Send up to 3 per issue.
~For video poem, submit a YouTube / Vimeo link. Send up to 3 per issue.

FICTION

We accept text based / medium-experimental pieces of short fiction.  All text-based submissions should be attached as a doc / docx / txt / rtf file. If your piece requires special formatting, please specify. ~1500 word max.

~For flash vignettes / fiction, please submit no more than 3.
~For longer stories, or "something in-between," please submit no more than 2.

NON-FICTION

We accept text / visual / experimental based pieces of non-fiction.  All text-based submissions should be attached as a doc / docx / txt / rtf file. If photos accompany your piece, please attach them as separate .jpeg files.  If your piece requires special formatting, please specify. ~1500 word max.

~For personal essays, CNF stories, and hybrid forms, please submit no more than 2.

INTERVIEWS

We accept text / visual / video / experimental based interviews.  All text-based submissions should be attached as a doc / docx / txt / rtf file. If photos accompany your piece, please attach them as separate .jpeg files.  If your piece requires special formatting, please specify.

TRANSLATION

Submissions of translated poetry / fiction / non-fiction are welcome in the form of text / visual / experimental based submissions.  All text-based submissions should be attached as a doc / docx / txt / rtf file. If photos accompany your piece, please attach them as separate .jpeg files.  If your piece requires special formatting, please specify.

~For translated poetry, please submit up to 5 pieces.
~For translated fiction, please submit up to 3 pieces. 
~For translated non-fiction, please submit up to 2 pieces.

PHOTOGRAPHY & ART

Please submit up to 5 pieces attached to your email as .jpeg files. If there's a particular way you want your work embedded, specify in your email & we'll do our best to work with you!

VIDEO & MIXED MEDIA

Submit up to three pieces of film / mixed media per issue.  Examples of mixed media/multimedia we're interested in:

~For general video submissions, please submit a link to where it can be watched on YouTube.  We only accept video submissions if it was has been made available on YouTube.
~Multimedia / mixed media we can dig: audio + animations + flash games.  

RESPONSE TIME

Expect a response within 60 days of submitting.  If there is no response within that time frame, we messed up. Shoot us a follow up email, and we'll get back to you immediately.
