"With dedications to Allen Ginsburg, Tom Wolfe, and beatniks, punks, hippies, and 'all other counter-cultures' I thought I knew what I’d be getting into once I began the book. I thought I’d be reading another run-of-the-mill, down with authority type book of “drug poetry.”
I was way off."

"This is a remarkable work by a very talented, young author. Regardless of one's opinion of the use of LSD, this book is well worth reading for its quite startling insights expressed in a confident, at times deeply beautiful verse style."
"Whether taken individually with water or by the handful washed down with liquor, these poems pull the reader along on a challenging journey rather than providing a restful antidote to a tough day. . .I would recommend it to those who appreciate the use of language to challenge accepted perceptions."

As you can tell by the title, this particular collection of poems has a heavy focus on psychedelics. No matter your opinions of LSD and drug abuse, this collection's mission wasn't to promote drugs. It's mission was to share a story, multiple stories intertwined into a chronological order of events.
LSD stands for Lysergic Acid Diethylamide. LSD induces an altered state of mind where your thinking processes are changed due to the physical manner your senses are translating what your perceive to your brain.
Imagine your "Senses" are a scribe for your brain. Your "Senses" write and read aloud "manuscripts" that contain information for your brain to review and process. LSD inspires your "Senses" to begin writing in a quick blur, while simultaneously looking at a water-colored sky and pulsing ground, and screaming opera. Your brain has a lot to attempt to understand.
